How Can I Get Bats Out of My Attic?
No matter how vigilant you may be, there may be an incident where that has gotten into your home. Many of these animals are extremely small, meaning the slightest crack or blemish in the outside of your house gives them access into your attic, walls, or basement. Once there, they pose some serious risks. Bats are the carriers of a number of diseases, including parasites, rabies, and other types of viruses and bacteria. This can be extremely dangerous to you, as you don't even need to come in contact with the bat to become infected. You could contract these illnesses through the urine and feces of the bat, and so can your dog or cat. It's why you must do something as quickly as possible.
A Quick and Easy Solution
Clearly, you need to do something quickly, but this is not a problem that should be dealt with in haste. You don't want to put yourself at risk by running into the attic, swatting a broom back and forth hoping to scare these animals out. You may wind up getting bitten or scratched, contracting a very serious illness. You need a game plan that works and this is where the one-way exclusion funnel is your solution. While there are other types of traps out there, there is really nothing quite like this option. The way it works is quite simple. Bats sleep during the day because they are nocturnal critters. That means you need to conduct your inspection around the outside of your home while they are asleep. Look for cracks, gaps, holes, or other areas where the bat can gain access into your attic. If you have found one, don't stop. Keep looking to ensure there are no others. Place the one-way exclusion funnel over the entryway the bats are using into your attic. Before it starts to get dark, put a bright light in the attic area, being careful to ensure that none of the bats are able to get inside your house while you are placing the bright light in there. As it starts to get dark outside, crank on the light. This will startle the bats, sending them toward the entryway they were using to get inside your house. They will go through the one-way exclusion funnel, but not be to get back in. You can be pretty sure that all of them will leave, as the bright light will become too much of an incentive to get out. Once the animal is outside, wait till the morning time before removing the funnel. Seal any area where the bats were getting in so that they cannot get back in again. This should help you to keep these animals out for good. Now you have some serious cleanup to do. It definitely is in a fun job, but you need to be thorough in getting rid of any waste left behind by these animals. Your health and the health of your family depend upon it.
